Trinity Manor’s Activity Department has qualified staff members who assess the interests and activity needs of each resident. We provide a variety of programs of recreational, cultural and intellectual activities. Organized group activities include, but are not limited to, bingo, resident birthday parties, presentations by area bands and instrumentalists, intergenerational activity programming, a monthly men’s old fashion country breakfast and a monthly women’s old fashion country breakfast, both prepared and served by Activity Staff with assistance from capable residents.

Trinity Manor’s Day Care Program is for adults, age 62 and over (younger persons require special permission from the facility Administrator) who do not require 24-hour total care but are not capable of full-time independent living. These adults have some impairment, whether physically, mentally or socially, which benefits from a semi-protective environment. This program enables many adults to remain in their own homes for as long as possible and offers supportive services to families caring for relatives.
This program also offers restorative and maintenance services. Emphasis is placed on the resident functioning at his/her highest level physically, socially, psychologically and spiritually. It encourages good grooming, activities, good nutrition and reality orientation and validation therapy. Routine nursing care is also included. A registered Physical Therapist and Occupational Therapist is available to evaluate participants to develop a personal program which is implemented by trained Physical Therapy or Restorative Aides.
Day care is available Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (Exceptions can be made for special needs.) Requests for day care should be made at least 48 hours in advance.

Trinity’s existing Alzheimer’s Special Care offers a protected environment and staff specially trained to care for those in the early to middle stages of Alzheimer’s.
As dementia diseases progress, physical nursing needs increase. Residents now require a step-up in care. They are moved from Special Care to general nursing, which meets their needs for increased physical care, but removes them from the environment beneficial to their psychosocial well being.
Trinity has a solution to this problem – an innovative health care service known as a “Step-Up” Unit. For those in the latter stages of Alzheimer’s and other dementia, we provide skilled nursing for physical needs within the protective arms of a “Special Care” environment.
The Special Care section at Trinity Manor has been developed for residents whose needs and/or behavior require a type of care different from other residents. It is our goal to provide residents with Alzheimer's and other related dementia specialized methods of care and activities appropriate to their capabilities in a safe, quiet atmosphere. We believe this will assist in maintaining the highest level of functioning for the longest time possible for the residents.
Our Special Care Section features 30 beds in a low stress environment, with a living room, dining/activity and quiet room. Specially trained staff offers care and activities tailored to the needs of these special residents. For the safety of our residents, all exits are controlled with emergency signals or combination lock. Direct care staff is present at all times.

On August 6, 2002, Trinity Association of Southwest Kansas announced a new Chaplain Program to Trinity services. Dick Robbins accepted the position to develop pastoral activities, which include visits for residents, their families and Trinity employees.
The program involves regularly scheduled religious services and activities (such as Bible studies) for residents, employees, family members and volunteers. Upon the resident’s request Robbins seeks their pastor’s assistance to assure that spiritual needs are being met. He will also honor any resident’s request for non-participation in religious services or programs.
|
Robbins provides counseling and guidance to residents and family members, as well as assisting staff, upon request, on any personal matters which may affect work performance. He conducts in-service training programs on the spiritual care of residents, religious services available, etc.
End of life – assists residents in meeting their needs, carrying out their desires and preserving their dignity through empathy, understanding and cooperation. Memorial services are held in Trinity’s chapel for each resident who passes away. All family, residents and staff are invited to attend. (See Memorial Services.)
Robbins is available on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday during regular office hours and will take calls for emergencies. He will speak at local civic functions and organizational meetings, if invited to do so.
Robbins is the former Associate Pastor of The First United Methodist Church in Dodge City, Kansas. He retired from full-time ministry in June 2002. He is also well known for his work with Hospice of the Prairie. He and his wife, Christie, have three children.

Medicaid is the federal health insurance program for low income Americans as well as aged, blind or disabled people on Supplemental Security Income. The federal government gives the states matching fund to pay for the costs of medical care and services, but each state can design its own Medicaid program based on its own needs. The federal government does mandate that states cover certain services, such as skilled nursing and home health services, x-rays and inpatient and outpatient hospital services.
Medicare Part A is Medicare’s hospital and post-hospital insurance coverage. Medicare pays for limited long-term care: up to 100 days per benefit period in a skilled nursing facility. Trinity provides skilled nursing and therapy services under Medicare Part A benefits to persons 60 and older. We provide physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy for those qualifying.

Trinity's Chaplain Program serves residents spiritually, along with their physical needs. One of the services developed from this program is the resident memorial service. Dick Robbins is our Trinity family's Chaplain. Memorial services are held in Trinity's Chapel upon the death of any resident at Trinity Manor. Residents, families, friends and staff unite to remember the resident and to say their final farewells. A candle is lit, a picture of the resident is centered on a table, songs are sung and memories and faith are shared. At the end of the service, everyone can express his or her sympathy to the resident's family. We find this service to be a very healing event for residents, families and staff.
A favorite activity of the residents at Trinity Manor is the monthly men and women's breakfasts. Residents roll up their sleeves and take over the kitchen to prepare breakfast. The air is filled with the sizzle of bacon, sausage and fellowship. Residents also set dining room tables and prepare the breakfast trimmings for fellow residents and staff. The men's breakfast is on the 2nd Friday of every month and the women's breakfast is held on the 3rd Friday of each month. Guests are always welcome.
Trinity’s nursing team of professional caregivers ensures that every resident in our facility receives a high quality of medical and nursing care. This includes physical, psychosocial, spiritual, restorative and rehabilitation care.

Trinity Manor’s Respite Care is a program for adults, generally age 62 and over, who require care longer than the designated hours for Day Care and not more than 30 days duration. Respite Care provides the caregiver a break from the care needs routinely provided to another adult.
We offer the full range of care ordinarily offered to Health Care residents. The number of persons in this program is dependent on bed availability with placement of the resident based on care needs. Emphasis is placed on aiding the resident to function at his/her highest level physically, socially, psychologically and spiritually. This includes encouraging good grooming, good nutrition, restorative and maintenance therapy services, social activities, and chaplain services.

Trinity Manor recognizes the need to care for the family and friends of those living in Long Term Care. Ranges of topics are offered monthly to those who choose to gather with others who are in similar situations. The decision to have a loved one reside in a Long Term Care Facility can often times generate feelings that are uncomfortable; we’re here to help. Our Support Group meets at 2:30 p.m. on the last Thursday of every month. We would love to have you join us!

THE Eden AlternativeTM is a powerful tool for improving the quality of life for people who live in long-term care facilities. Because it is a new way of thinking about long-term care, it has the potential of remaking nursing homes all over the country. This concept is now an important part of Trinity Manor. (For more information go to Senior Living Articles.)
Transportation is available for residents to and from doctor and dental appointments.
Volunteers are always welcome at Trinity. If you would like to volunteer some of your time at our nursing facility, please stop by and pick up a volunteer application. You’ll be glad you did!
